USI Career Forum is a great opportunity to get to know possible working environments that could interest both students and graduates from USI. We advise you to:
Before the Forum
- Save the date in your schedule -make good use of your time!
- Collect all the necessary information about the various companies and organizations before you meet their representatives, to ensure that you are not caught out unprepared.
- Apply to meet one-to-one with the company during the recruitment sessions.
- Be ready to say what you are looking for and indicate your reasons.
- Prepare a "sound bite" - a short 1-2 minute summary of your background, your skills, personal strengths and interests.
Before the Forum
- Dress professionally: we suggest "business-casual" clothes.
- Carry with you copies of your CV in Italian and in English. The Career Service offers sessions throughout the year providing advice on how to write a good curriculum vitae and motivation letter. Take advantage of this to present yourself as an efficient candidate, thus doubling your chances of success.
During the Forum
- Visit all the stands. Don't disregard any company or organization: you might be surprised to discover unsuspected interesting opportunities.
- While speaking with the organization's representatives, be sure to smile, introduce yourself and ask them the questions that you prepared before. You can leave them also your resume.
- Ask each representative that you talk to for a business card and collect the company brochure before you go to the next stand.
- If possible, jot down some quick notes about your conversations before your next stop. This will help you remember which organizations you were especially interested in later on.
After the Forum
- Send thank you letters/e-mails to the organizations you would like to target. Personalize all correspondence!
